Our company SIA Fish + Fish started its operations in Latvia in January 2016. The company bought production facilities that had been in operation since 2002. The concept of the company is Icelandic ownership, Icelandic management, Icelandic production know-how and skilled Latvian workforce with a long experience in the white fish industry.
The ownership and the management have a long experience in operating seafood companies in different countries.
Various important investments have been made since January 2016 to upgrade the production facilities, equipment, machinery, cold storage, fish handling and various facilities for the employees.
Further investments were made in 2017 to upgrade the factory to meet the demand from the high end markets, and market segments.
The production capacity was doubled during the year of 2017 with the different investments in the factory. The productivity was increase by 40 % from 2016. We do have 95 to 120 employees in the company.
We have a number of certifications to meet the customers and consumer demands, such as MSC, IFS (International Food Standard) and Social Audit by Intertek.
We are planning to build a new modern factory at the site. The building operation will start early in the year of 2018. The new factory is designed in Iceland, by experienced designers specialised in this field. With the new building we will increase the capacity of the factory and it will enable us to produce more value added products. We will install the latest technology for production and packing ground fish in the new factory. The building of the new factory will improve the facilities and work conditions for our employees. That means a lot to us. A lot of effort is put into saving water and energy in order to process in a more environmental friendly way than we are able to do at present.
